Making it at home really isn't very difficult.
Plus you can control the salt and msg that goes in to it .
Tonight I am making a simple stir fry of beef and brocolli.
Nothing super fancy but very delicious.
Add a bit of rice and dinner is done.
I have a rice cooker that was a Christmas present a couple of years ago.
Now making rice is so easy.
But on to the stir fry.
Most people think it is hard to make Chinese food.
I guess that's why the restaurants are so busy.
But it really isn't that hard and it a lot better for you.
Most restaurants add a ton of salt and MSG to make food taste better.
It's just not good for you.
Make it yourself! Then you know what you are feeding your family.
Here's my simple beef and brocolli recipe.....
Beef and Brocolli
----------------------
1 lb steak cut into thin strips ( cheap is just fine. Cut against the grain)
2 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup soya sauce ( I use low salt)
3 or 4 tbsp oil
4 -6 cups brocolli cut into bite size pieces
1/3 cup water
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp minced ginger
1 tbsp oil
Sauce
-------
1/4 cup oyster sauce
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
2 tbsp brown sugar
1) Place beef, cornstarch and soya sauce in a medium sized bowl. Mix to coat.
Set aside for 10-20 minutes
2) Combine sauce ingredients in small bowl.
Set aside
3) Heat wok or large heavy pan over med/high heat with 2 tbsp of oil.
When wok/ pan is sizzling hot , add beef.
4) Stir fry 1 minute . Move meat around and continue cooking 2-3 minutes more until meat is cooked.
Don't overlook as this makes the meat tough.
Transfer to a bowl/ plate and set aside
5) Put cut up broccoli in wok/ pan with water and cover for 2 minutes to steam.
Stir and cover again to finish cooking until tender- crisp.
6) Remove from pan and place in bowl.
Set aside
7) Put 1 tbsp oil, garlic and ginger in wok and stir around for 1 minute
( I like garlic , so I added a little more! )
8) Add beef and brocolli back to pan and cook for 1 minute.
